      The Hero of the Iliad, Destiny and the Immortal of Glory

      Achilles is one of the most iconic and complex forms of ancient Greek mythology. Hero of unparalleled power, brave warrior and deep human, embodies the eternal dilemma between long life and immortal glory. His form dominates in Iliad of Homer and has influenced literature, philosophy and art for thousands of years.


      🔹 The Origin of Achilles

      Divine and mortal nature

      Achilles was the son of Peleas, king of the Myrmidons in Fthia, and Thetis, a Nirid goddess of the sea. From his mother he inherited divine descent, and from his father the mortal fate of man. This dual nature determined his whole life and destiny.

      Thetis and the effort of immortality

      Thetis tried to make her son immortal. According to the most famous myth, he plunged him into the waters of the Styx holding him from the heel. Thus, his whole body became invulnerable, except where he was holding him. — the legendary achille heel.

      Achilles was raised by the wise centaur Chiron, who taught him:

      Chiron shaped him not only as a warrior, but also as a spiritually cultured hero.


      🔹 Achilles’s Oracle and Destiny

      Thetis knew the oracle:

      • Had Achilles not gone to Troy, he would have lived a long and quiet life without glory.

      • If he fought in Troy, he would die young, but his name would remain eternal.

      Achilles He consciously chose glory, knowing the price.


      🔹 Achilles in the Trojan War

      Achilles led the Myrmidons, the most elite army of the Achaeans. His presence on the battlefield was enough to terrorize the Trojans.

      The conflict with Agamemnon

      His dispute with Agamemnon over Brissida caused his departure from battle. Achilles' anger is her central theme Iliad and symbolizes the conflict between personal honor and collective duty.

      Achilles was killed by Paris, with an arrow guided by the god Apollo, who struck her achille heel. So his destiny was fulfilled.
